I’m Jo Barton, a current MSc student at the Glasgow School of Art/Glasgow University. I’m looking for participants for my MSc dissertation project from June – Aug 2021

I’m hoping to create a mobile app for people who have been affected by cancer and who have had to face the conversation on fertility.

All you need is you and a mobile phone.

I started this project, because I am affected by cancer everyday. My dad has two incurable brain tumours that he has lived with for over 20 years.

How amazing is science?!

Thinking of those who have lost a loved one and who are not as lucky as me.

Let's help to normalise the cancer conversation, by continuing the discussion each and everyday.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me with this project so far. Lots more to come in 2021. I'll be starting a Master's in Healthcare & Design to take this to the next level and help more people 💙

I can't believe the #100Stories launch party was a year ago today!

Thank you to everyone for the support. I've met some amazing people creating this project and they've helped me more than I can explain. So I hope the book gives back too!

Here's to 2021 and normalising the cancer conversation even more.

At the launch party we had a live storytelling panel, including @julietkfp @canceronboard @sakoonthroughcancer @_gracelatter

We also had live music from @henrio.music with @meelietraillbass

And the cake the shape of the book was made by @meelietraill_

It was hosted at @maggies.west.london @maggiescentres with help from @lucyshaverin

Thank you to all involved. A night I'll never forget.

I've collaborated with the #cancerapp @natiacares on a new blog post!

NatiaCares helps people affected by cancer feel better (emotionally, spiritually and physically). Their holistic app looks at four main areas: meditation, yoga, music and (my personal favourite) conversations.

Stories are what connect us.
Especially stories where we share our vulnerabilities and speak openly about experiences.

This book works to dispel the myth that people must suffer in silence. It gives permission for everyone to feel whatever they are feeling, and speak about it openly. Gone are the days when people with cancer, or any illness, have to hide away in shame.
In its essence, this book is about opening up the conversation around cancer, interweaving individual experiences with a shared goal. The stories are written by 100 different people who have experienced cancer in some way.

You can read it as a passive observer, listening and learning. But maybe you’ll find inspiration through these 100 stories to join the conversation too.
